Magic in the valley of Lupines

I'd just landed a nice rainbow. Amelia was on a side channel and was yelling at me to come over. From 120m away, we could barely hear her. But, if we could hear her, it was important. As I was yelling back, Bob hooked a nice brown that was air borne in a hurry, several times. He yelled at Karen to come for photos, she was yelling from way upstream... while AJ & I yelled back and forth. The current was loud, the wind howling. The fish... ACTIVE. Karen ran to photo  Bob's brown, I stumbled through the lupines to get to AJ. She had walked up a side trough away from us, and come onto a downed beech tree. The water was nipple deep on me, as I found out as I came to net and photograph. AJ had simply walked up, saw the water, looked for a fish, cast, and the trout came up slowly to take the fly. Magic in the valley of lupines on a day that was for flying kites with anchor ropes. We were fishing a river 3 valleys over from Milford Sound, which had gale warnings and 120+kmh winds. AJ's fish was a nice rainbow.
