ECUADOR: Galapagos marlin report of April

Here the last report from San Cristobal in Galapagos Islands from Ecuagringo.

Continuing our tradition of bringing anglers and some of the best marlin fishing together this last week has been no exception. Conditions continue with wonderful weather most days. Calm seas and water temps ranging from 74 to 77 in most areas. Marlin action has been decent most of the week.

GALAPAGOS: 175 lb huge giant trevally

According to the Facebook web page of Carlos Carvalho, this monster giant trevally was caught from the rocks. I was 175 lb or 79 kilos!! Probably the biggest gint trevally ever caught with rod and reel.

March 21, 2012 we ran to 88 Bank on the Big Fish with the Johnsons again to fly fish. The day was perfect and calm. Sunny with water temp 74.8-76 F in the AM. We managed to raise 3 stripeys and get a bite out of the first one on fly. Unfortunately it spit the fly after windshield whipping for about a minute.

San Cristobal, the weather has been absolutely spectacular the last few days. The water color and fishing has been a roller coaster as well. Green upwelling just a few days ago near the island have now lead to lots of bait and beautiful blue water. The inshore fishing has been incredible for tuna, wahoo, grouper and bottom fish. The marlin fishing has been quite good on 88 Bank.

ECUADOR: January 2012 marlin fishing report

La Niña effects have carried over into 2012 but signs are showing it may be slowing down. While fishing has not been as good as it should be at this point in a “normal” season it hasn't been terrible either.
