CALIFORNIA: white shark hooked from a pier

Recently very few anglers in the world have the luck to fight a white shark and especially fishing from an US pier. But, earlier this week, Eric Martin on the Manhattan Beach Pier in Southern California, hooked, fought and released a 9 foot great white shark.

USA: giant 917 pound mako shark off California coasts

Angler Craig Winters and his friend Brian Cope were fishing aboard a 37 foot charter boat out of Mako Matt's Marine in Huntington Beach, California. While chumming for sharks off South Orange County, they caught a few small blue sharks and chummed in great white then a giant mako grabbed the big bait.

Angler Mark Heffernan, Chairman of Dundalk "SAC" had a day to remember. Mark was fishing on Carlingford Lough on board the "Tope Legend", a boat owned by Brian Gallagher when he hooked and landed a monster tope shark for Irish waters. The big shark was 67.50 pound with a fork length of 60 inches and a girth of 30 inches which would put it above the current Irish record of 66lb 8oz.
